The INFO Comms Team supports and leads college communications and marketing, inclusive of student recruitment advertising, crisis communications, social media and news channels management, and PR.
The INFO Comms Team also provides support to the college’s faculty and staff in achieving their marcomm goals. Support of ad hoc requests will be determined based on available resources, timing (2-4 week lead time needed), and priority alignment.

Flyer Policy: Posting flyers/signage in INFO spaces is only allowed if they are from a UMD unit/group and promote free, public opportunities of interest to INFO faculty, staff, or students, i.e. related to information science topics, career resources, or social activities. Any flyers that do not comply with this will be removed without discussion. If flyers meet these requirements, you do not need to seek pre-approval. If you would like to check if a flyer is acceptable in advance, please email infocomm@umd.edu. Media Release Forms
When to obtain a photo or video release form:
- You DO NOT NEED a release form if you are taking photographs/video footage at a public event or in a public space and you share the videos solely to showcase that event or location NOTE: These images, regardless of being taken in a public setting, cannot be used to promote a product, service, idea, or thing without a release form.
- You DO NEED a release form if you are taking photographs/video footage in a non-public setting, inclusive of a classroom or a research lab; regardless of if or how you intend to use the images.
- You DO NEED a release form if you are taking photographs/video footage in a non-public setting OR public setting, if you intend to use the images to promote a product, service, idea, or thing. This includes being used on college or lab websites or communications to promote the organization, academics, or research.
